Inertia — The biggest threat to progress
According to Newton’s Law of Inertia;
“If a body is at rest or moving at a constant speed in a straight line, it will remain at rest or keep moving in a straight line at constant speed unless it is acted upon by a force.
Inertia is being stuck in a job because you feel obliged to take care of your financial responsibilities. The fact that you dread walking into the office each morning is blocked out. Physical inactivity versus movement shows up as excess weight and potential ill health. Passivity is hanging around in a loveless marriage because you believe in the illusion that familiarity beats uncertainty.
When you are goalless you can become apathetic towards life. In the workplace productivity is typically a measure of the total output versus the inputs. However, when you are busy constantly chasing the wrong goals, it’s a form of distraction inertia. Although you may feel like you are moving forward when your compass is of kilter your progress is unproductive.
