Technology Advances

Technological advances constantly shift our world. Video streaming platforms have transformed cable television and the Blockbuster corner stores. Smartphones have transformed the way we access the internet with desktops and laptops rapidly falling out of favor. Google has replaced the traditional encyclopedias. How often do you see bookshelves filled with the latest edition of the Encyclopedia Brtiannica in someone’s home?

Peer to peer (P2P) disruption is rapidly on the rise. It has altered the way people interact daily and how they buy and sell goods and services. Airbnb is a great example of P2P disrupting the travel and accommodation industry. The continued adoption of cryptocurrencies led by Bitcoin is another such example. Intermediaries such as banks become less and less important. Jane who lives in the USA can purchase a product online from Ethan living in Australia by simply by sending Bitcoin or Etherium, at the press of a button.
